The Horizon Seaweed team is excited to announce our new ownership. Caherush Enterprises Limited is a newly formed company – owned by Evan Talty – that acquired the assets of New Wave Foods Limited in June 2024. Evan is one of the founders of Wild Irish Seaweeds, which is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of organic seaweed products.

With over 15 years’ experience in the global seaweed market, Caherush Enterprises’ vision and expertise will ensure Horizon Seaweed will help create a long term, sustainable and vibrant Scottish seaweed industry from our manufacturing site in Wick.

Evan Talty is enthusiastic about the opportunity:

“We are excited to share that we have successfully acquired Horizon Seaweed. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand our commitment to provide customers with sustainable and innovative marine products on a global scale.

Horizon Seaweed has established itself with exceptional standards for quality and sustainability, aligning perfectly with our core values that we have developed in the Irish seaweed industry over the past 15 years.

We look forward to playing a key role in developing the Scottish seaweed industry and through a shared vision and knowledge ensuring Horizon Seaweed is a leader in the manufacturing and supply of organic seaweed products.”

All staff have transferred to the new company, providing continuity of supply to customers and ongoing project development. Peter Elbourne, who moves into the CEO role, is looking forward to the interesting opportunities now available to Horizon Seaweed:

“I’m confident the combined knowledge provided by two teams of seaweed experts will help accelerate growth of our industry. I must also sincerely thank the previous owners for their support during this transitional period."
